About us

Since 2002, Münchenwiler Castle has been run as a hotel with a restaurant, seminar facilities, banquet facilities, and cultural events. As a dedicated and dynamic team, we have set ourselves the goal of making castle dreams come true and offering our guests an unforgettable stay.

Our history

1081

The Vilar brothers leave their entire estate to Cluny Abbey for the sake of their sins, as stated in the deed of donation. Cluny then establishes a priory.

1485

The Pope dissolves the connection between Münchenwiler and Cluny and places it under the authority of St. Vincent's Abbey in Bern.

1668

After several changes of ownership, Anton von Graffenried acquires the castle and estate. The estate remains in his family until 1798, and the castle until 1932.

1943

The state of Bern acquires the neglected castle and its surrounding grounds. The castle is used for military training courses and serves as accommodation for troops.

1984

The Bern Adult Education Association is taking over the operation of the course center.

1986 to 1990

The castle and church are undergoing extensive renovation and refurbishment, and a guest house is being added as an additional extension. The training center is reopening.

2002

Parkhotel Schloss Münchenwiler AG is transforming the former educational center into a hotel. Thanks to investments in infrastructure, Schloss Münchenwiler will now be operated as a hotel with a restaurant, seminar facilities, banquet facilities, and cultural offerings.

2012

The Canton of Bern (AGG) leases the entire Münchenwiler Castle complex to Schloss Münchenwiler GmbH, owned by Brigit Leicht and Heinz Blattmann.

2020

The Canton of Bern (AGG) leases the entire Münchenwiler Castle complex to Andalo GmbH.
