About us

Since 2002, Schloss Münchenwiler has been run as a hotel with restaurant, seminar, banquet and cultural facilities. As a dedicated and dynamic team, we have set ourselves the goal of making castle dreams come true and offering our guests an unforgettable stay.

Our history

1081

The brothers of Vilar leave their entire property to the monastery of Cluny for sins, as stated in the deed of donation. Cluny then establishes a priory.

1485

The Pope dissolves the connection between Münchenwiler and Cluny and places it under the control of St. Vincent's Abbey in Bern.

1668

After various changes of ownership, Anton von Graffenried acquires the castle and estate. The estate remains in his family until 1798, the castle until 1932.

1943

The state of Bern reacquires the dilapidated castle and its surrounding grounds. The castle is used for coaching courses in military instruction and serves as accommodation for troops.

1984

The Berner Volkshochschulverband takes over the operation of the course center.

1986 to 1990

The castle and church are extensively rebuilt and renovated and a guest house is built as an additional extension. The further education center is reopened.

2002

Parkhotel Schloss Münchenwiler AG is transforming the former education center into a hotel. By investing in the infrastructure, Schloss Münchenwiler will now be run as a hotel with a restaurant, seminar, banquet and cultural facilities.

2012

The Canton of Bern (AGG) leases the entire Münchenwiler Castle complex to Schloss Münchenwiler GmbH, owned by Brigit Leicht and Heinz Blattmann.

2020

The Canton of Bern (AGG) leases the entire Münchenwiler Castle complex to Andalo GmbH.
