The caves of Mont-Vully

The Lam­ber­ta caves above Môti­er were dug into the sandstone between 1916 and 1917 to defend the Swiss Plateau during the First World War. This resulted in a 200-meter-long tunnel. On the way from Murten to Fribourg, follow the Münchenwiler turnoff and you will end up at our castle.

Heart Route

Discover Switzerland by e-bike. The Heart Route runs from Zug to Lausanne, and we are located on the Laupen–Romont section (63 km). Four medieval gems line this stage. In between, you will find particularly charming landscapes and encounter the mysterious Lake Schiffenen. Visit the Heart Route as a day trip or a multi-day trip. A total of seven perfectly signposted stages with a total length of 400 km are available to you. Flyer e-bikes can be rented at the stage locations, making your ride over the hills a pleasure. Along the way, battery replacement stations provide you with fresh power.

Röstigraben route

Based on the book by Philipp Bachmann, published by Rotpunktverlag. Hiking along the language border from the Jura to the Matterhorn. The Röstigraben between Murten and Fribourg meanders through the landscape like a large river in sweeping curves. The suggested route shortens the wide meanders while also taking into account the quality of the hiking trails. It is therefore a compromise between proximity to the Röstigraben and hiking comfort. pp. 139 to 141.

Way of St. James

Basel-Jura-Three Lakes Trail (Basel-Payerne)

 

The route from Basel through the Jura Mountains to the Three Lakes Region is intended as an alternative link between the southwestern German sections of the Way of St. James and the ViaJacobi, which crosses Switzerland through the Swiss Plateau. The new route invites pilgrims to hike from Basel – in the southernmost part of the Upper Rhine Plain – through the scenic Jura Mountains to the western Swiss Plateau, and from there to France and on to Santiago de Compostela. The pilgrim hostel is located in the modern extension of the castle, which was built after the Reformation on the site of the former 12th-century Cluniac priory as a manor house.

Twelve paths that connect the inhabitants of Cluny with all Cluniacs and invite the creation of a European cultural area.
